Welcome to my Exile!
I started this blog last year because I no longer recognized the America I have known for the last 60 years. The first entry speaks of the loss of the Promise that America held for its citizens and the world. But in the last year the America I have known has become even more frightening. In part because of the pandemic. But I do not feel that the pandemic is the greater threat. I fear the American public more than I fear the virus. Therefore, I no longer consider myself living under a quarantine, I am now in exile from the bulk of our nation that has become a physical threat to my life.
I have restarted this blog so that I can engage with my friends on issues of mutual interest without having to endure all of the sadness that I experience from FB. Over the last few months, many of my FB friends have succumbed to the self-centered conspiracy-minded, foolishness of the Trump Era. They see everything as a political statement for or against "their President." This has become a deadly game for many, especially the older community, the chronically ill, minorities, and the poor. They have begun "asserting their rights" and refusing to social distance or wear masks that protect everyone. Frankly, their words and behavior make me profoundly sad, and such sadness is not good for my spiritual health. However, I deeply miss engaging with my other friends on FB. Therefore, I have created this page.
I will post my random thoughts and impressions from time to time. This may include articles I run across from my newspapers or news sites. It will likely include quotes for pondering and pictures I have taken with links to my online gallery. I will not be posting this material on FB. When I do log on to FB, I will only be lurking just to see how my friends are doing.
There are two ways you can receive this blog. You can log on to this blog from your computer or you can receive it by email. Anyone who signs up by email must be approved by me since I do not want the trolls slithering into this blog. This is a safe space for you and me to share our thoughts and experiences. Further, all comments will need to be approved by me as well for the same reason as above.
I HOPE THAT YOU WILL COMMENT AND SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS. IT IS OKAY TO ENGAGE WITH OTHERS IN THE COMMENTS. Sharing your likes and dislikes is also encouraged. I can and do learn from you and I encourage you to learn from each other. I want to make a safe place for this to happen.
I truly regret having to do this. I do miss my many friends on FB. I hope this is only temporary until our country regains its senses. But, it is necessary for the sake of my body-mind-soul. I will not be monetizing this site in any way. It is simply a way to maintain community when our physical community is being so badly fractured.
